Visiting an Osteopath & What to Expect
On your first visit with our osteopath Gold Coast, and before the examination begins, the Osteopath will discuss and record your medical history in detail.
During examination and treatment by an Osteopath, you will typically be asked to remove some of your outer clothing. Please wear underwear, shorts or sports bra that you feel comfortable in. A gown is offered.

Considering the case history, the osteopath will then apply a highly developed sense of touch to identify points of weakness or excessive strain throughout the body.
Further investigations by your Osteopath may be required, including x-rays, scans, or other assessments we feel are necessary to identify the cause of your complaint. This will allow a complete diagnosis of the problem and enable the Osteopath to tailor a treatment plan to your needs.

An osteopath will make you feel at ease and tell you what is happening throughout your consultation. You should ask questions if you have any concerns. Osteopathy can help most people, and our Chirn Park Health Group team is dedicated to providing personalised and effective treatments tailored to your unique health needs on the Gold Coast.
With Chirn Park Health Group Osteopath Gold Coast, the other clinic therapists work closely to consistently achieve optimal results. If further medical treatment is needed, the Osteopath may contact your doctor with your permission.
What is Manual Therapy in Osteopathic Treatment?
Manual therapy involves using the practitioner’s hands to assess and treat muscles, joints, connective tissues, and surrounding structures of the body.
In osteopathy, manual therapy may include a range of techniques designed to improve mobility, reduce muscular tension, support circulation, and assist the body’s natural movement patterns. Treatment is typically tailored to the individual and their specific condition, symptoms, and comfort levels.
Some common forms of manual therapy include soft-tissue massage, joint mobilisation, stretching techniques, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, and gentle joint manipulation. Osteopaths may also use manual therapy to help address postural strain, sports injuries, headaches, neck pain, lower back pain, shoulder tension, and movement restrictions.
Manual therapy is often combined with education, rehabilitation exercises, lifestyle advice, and movement strategies to support longer-term recovery and function. The goal is not only to help manage symptoms, but also to improve how the body moves and functions as a whole.
